One day the entire Shirdi village was filled with the devotees.  Reason is , it was Shree Rama Navami, April 5th 1914. Hundreds of devotees had surrounded SAI BABA.

An old lady had come to have the Darshan of SAI BABA. She could not further come over in the crowd by pushing and as such she was crying. Could her lamentations reach the ears of SAI BABA?

The contemporary of SAI BABA, Tajuddeen Baba was staying at Nagpur. He was staying in Palace. His devotee Tara prepared meals for Tajudden to be fed to Him. When she enquired about Him, she was told that He was at a Palace of the King. She could go to the Palace, however going inside for a poor lady like her could be possible, she doubted. Overcome with doubt she didn’t make an attempt to go inside the palace. She hanged the Meals prepared by her in a towel to the branch of Wild Black Plum tree in front of the Palace of the king.

She offered prostrations to Tajuddin Baba in her mind and started returning home.

Sumptuous food containing all the six flavors was ready for Tajudden Baba in the King’s Palace. But Tajuddeen Baba came out of the Palace and took the food hanged at the branch of the Wild Black Plum tree and ate satisfactorily. That was enough for her.

Now at Shirdi what did SAI BABA do? He called Shyama and brought the old lady crying outside to him through him. There was No bounds for her happiness.

‘Mother! I was waiting for you since a long time? What did you bring for me to eat?, – SAI BABA asked that old lady.

‘Here I brought you one stale roti with a piece of onion. I started my journey with one stale roti and piece of onion. On way as I felt hungry, I ate half of that pale roti and onion. Remaining I brought for you, take them’ – saying this that old lady has given the pale Roti to SAI BABA.

SAI BABA ate them satisfactorily and said to her that ‘Mother! Your roti was very sweet’.  There was no limit to mother’s happiness.

May SAI BABA happy with our offering of sweet Prasad to Him every day!
