Gajanan Maharaj was a Guru of Khaparde’s family. Gajanan Maharaj made the family of Khaparde to reach to Shridi SAI BABA. Lakshmi Bai was the wife of Ganesh Shri Krishna Khaparde. She was not well educated. However she was very cultured. She read and heard the stories of Ramayana, Maha Bharata, Pandava Pratapa, Shiva Leelamrut and so on.

She has become a daughter in law to a rich family. She lived in wealthy atmosphere. But she was naturally liberal by nature. She used to prepare food for all the fifty people staying at home and four to five persons to eat the left over items.

Not only the people from her family, but the students, one watchman, herdsman of cows, two workers, minimum three guests per day, eight horse keepers, and so on like this so many people were remaining in that house. She never showed any difference as to big and small among them.

A student staying in their house, once admitted in a hospital for treatment due to a big boil. Lakshmi Bai took food for him and fed herself. That boy was thankful to Mother Lakshmi Bai for his entire life.‘ Lakshmi Bai used to do seva to him even his mother could not do said that boy. If her mercy was not there, I would have died said that boy. There were many instances like this.

As she was in such a great state, SAI BABA allowed her to the Masjid, even there was a rule not to permit ladies to the Masjid during afternoons.

SAI BABA has taken the Prasadam (Food) by her. In order to allow her to perform seva to His Feet, SAI BABA stretched out His Feet, so that she would Press His feet, in turn SAI BABA used to press her hands and said to chant ‘Raja Ram, Raja Ram’ often.

Her health was deteriorating. She knows what will be happening to her.

On July 20th 1928, she had the darshan of Her Guru SAI BABA, said her husband Khaparde.

She was kept in the room where their Family’s deity was placed/kept.

Though her breathing was heavy, she was very peaceful and merged in Rajaram at 3.15 hours in the afternoon.
