SAI BABA likes children. The liking was such that he did not allow even parents to beat them, and abuse them. Information about Sai with children is not in Sai Sachcharita.

SAI BABA was a shelter for Damoder Rasne and his family. Through the blessings of SAI BABA only, Dattatreya Damodar was born. At the age of 7 years to Dattatreya, the family went to Shirdi. Dattatreya was pressing SAI BABA’s feet at Dwaraka Mayee.

Then SAI BABA was distributing sweets to all the children. Dattatraya’s eyes were on sweets, as he was a small boy.

Sensing this mother got angry on the boy and bet him saying ‘Your looks are on sweets only. So you are not able to press SAIBABA’s feet properly’.

Then SAI BABA got angry and said to her ‘Oh, old lady. Why did you beat that boy’, cried loudly. She asked Sai to impart to her son the wisdom of serving properly. Sai’s anger subsided.

”This boy would rightly serve me. God give him a pure mind, ” said Sai. That boy after growing up has done best service to the SAI SANSTHAN.

In August Haribhau Choubal got a son. His name was Shankar Haribhau. In his childhood itself he had the darshan of SAI BABA with his parents.

The child also offered alms to Baba while the family was staying in Shirdi.

As soon as Baba returned from alms, Shankar Haribhav was sitting at the building in Dwarakamai, with a snotty nose.

When Baba came to Dwarakamai, he would hold the boy on his lap and wipe his nose.

Once while Baba was not around Shama made the boy sit in the courtyard of Dwarakamai premises. The next day also Shankar was seen sitting in the same place

Sai brought the child to him and asked “Why are you sitting down?” The child told him everything that had happened.

Then SAI BABA,  called Shyama and told him that ‘See Shyama! This boy is also my Child. If not Me, who else will save My children? Do not get angry on Children’. Shyama then agreed for this.
