Shri B.V.Narasimha Swamy ji praised SAI BABA as ‘Aum Godavari Tata Shirdi Vaashinay Namah’ in his Ashtottara Nama Vali (108 Names).

After Maha Samadhi in Telugu Region, SAI BABA made to build many of His Mandirs. The first of SAI BABA mandirs in the series was one of the mandir at the banks of River Tungabhadra at Kurnool.

Arriving SAI BABA to the Banks of River Tungabhadra was not an interesting event.

In SAI BABA Aratis praising of SAI BABA as ‘Nirmala Nadi Tunga Jala Prasi’ was not today’s.

This temple’s Trustee Shri K. Veeraswamy and his wife Smt Annapoornamma went to Shirdi in 1949 and after that they built a small hut at the Kurnool Bus Stand and started worshipping SAI BABA.

While doing the pooja one day, a Great Person by name Samardha Narayana Swamy arrived to that place. He has picked up a place and shown it Veeraswamy Couple and requested them to build a SAI BABA’s temple there.

The construction of the temple was started in 1949. Bhahmashri Himavat Parvata Rishi Bala Sanyasi, who was said to be the SAI BABA’s companion student, laid the foundation to the temple on May 10th 1949.

The idol at this temple was prepared at Agra, then went to Pakistan, from there went to Nager Kurnool and finally reached Kurnool.

This temple was built in the shape of Star. It has become famous as Dakshin Shirdi.

Many stories were told about this temple.

Telugu Famous writer Shri Tripuraneni Gopichand was working in Kurnool. He was atheist.

His wife Shakuntala Devi was admitted in a hospital for delivery once. Delivery has become very difficult.

While passing through the temple Shri Gopichand spontaneously felt that if SAI BABA was so powerful my wife should be delivered immediately.

He was about to reach the hospital. In the meantime a Fakir has come to Shakuntala Devi and said ‘Child! Do not be fearful. You will have safe delivery’. He applied Udi and made her to drink water. She got safest delivery. That boy was named as Sai Chand.

Today is May 10th. Let us meditate on that Thungabhadra Tata Vaashi.
