Dasaganu during his childhood was a follower of Vaman Shastri Islampurkar and treated him to be his master. After the passing away of his master he felt orphaned. Sai Baba was a contemporary of Shri Vaman Islampurkar hence Dasganu treated Sai Baba as his master as Baba was an embodiment of all masters thus Dasganu prayed Baba whole heartedly.

Vaman Shatri was a traditional Ramadasi belonging to a the clan of great person Shri Kalyana Maharaj.He was scholar in Sanskrit. He was sent to a place called Shri Gond by British Government in 1894 for doing a research on Sanskrit Literature.

Dasganu went as an assistant to him there. Dasganu was pleased with the good nature and peaceful attitude of Vamana Shastri.He become venerable to Dasganu. That was why Dasganu elected Vaman Shashti as his Master.

Task was completed. Vaman Shashtri gave his ring to him as a gift, but Dasganu refused saying ‘Maharaj! I do not want this; you grant me a mantra as initiation (Matropadesham)’.

Vaman Shashtri felt happy with Dasganu’s reqest and initiated a mantra.

Dasganu wanted to put a month’s salary at his Guru’s feet as Guru Daskhina.

‘What could be done with a month’s salary Ganapatirao! I would take your service as my Guru Daskhina. But there was a time for this to happen.

For the moment give me two paise as Dakshina – thus saying Vaman Shashtri has taken two paise as Dakshina.

The oneness in Vaman Shashtri and SAI BABA could be known by two paise dakshina and taking job as Guru Dakshina.

When Vaman Shashi Islampurkar told Dasganu that he wanted to spend his remaining life at Kashi, Dasganu felt like a bird that cut its wings.

‘Ganapati Rao! You have gone to SAI BABA earlier! You surrender to His Feet. He will guide you.  Myself and SAI BABA are not separate’ consoled Vaman Shashtri Islampurkar to Dasganu.

Vaman Shashtri goes to Kashi. He attained Maha Samadhi as told by himself on Jyestha Shuddha Ekadashi (Sometime in June).

Dasganu used to perform his Guru’s Punya Tidhi on that day. SAI BABA agreed for this.

For the coin of Das Ganu’s Guruship one side was Vaman Shashi and the other side was SAI BABA. They were head and tails of the same coin.
