Sai Baba did not seem to have studied in any other school except at his Guru. Swamy Chinmayanana Saraswati’s previous name was Balakrishna Menon.

He has educated M.A and Law from University of Lucknow. He has educated the Journalism also there itself and joined in National Herald as Journalist.

He has participated in Quit India movement. When he was in Punjab Jail he was attacked with Typhus decease.

Jail Authorities left him out of the village. He was taken to her home by a merciful lady, later admitted him in a hospital.

He wandered for information of hypocritical saints and reached Swami Sivananda Ashram. And then he changed.

Swami Shivananda has initiated him to the Sanyasa Deeksha and made him Swami Chinmayananda.

He has learnt Philosophy from Tapovan Maharaj. At the Tapovan Maharaja, unable to be a disciple, many left. But, Chinmayananda they were able to stay.

In 1951, he has given his first discourse in Poona Ganesh Temple. The listeners were increased from hundreds to thousands.

He used to talk very smoothly and at the same time he was committed to reply in hard way.

When he was discoursing in foreign land one person asked him what his method was.

“My method? My method was to stand on the nose and meditate – without anyone seeing” he laughed.

‘There were no short cuts in spiritual path. If you want to search for a short cut in spiritual path, do not come tomorrow’ he clearly told. The spiritual path itself was difficult one.

‘You were scholar in English and Law. Further you were the famous journalist too. Why you left them now’ asked someone.

“Now what do you do after eating chewing gum?” Asked Chinmayananda. I spit chewing gum, “he said.

In 1991, Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati was awarded Golden Libra in Bombay.

Chinmaya Mission spread in the various countries.

Chinmayananda has left his body on August 3rd, 1993.

Government of India has release a Ten Rupee coin to commemorate his Centenary year.

Today is August 3rd, the death anniversary of Chinmayananda.
