It happened in 1949. Since his childhood, Swamiji Shantavan Maharaj’s eyes were towards spirituality only. He left home. Some unknown mental turmoil was formed in him.

He has reached a place called Balaram while travelling. The atmosphere there would help anyone for their spiritual advancement. He was in Meditation for 4, 5 days continuously there.

But he could not concentrate on Meditation. He left home with the hope that his entire life would be totally committed to spiritual advancement and hence he went into depression. He wanted to commit suicide. After praying last at the Shiva Temple, he reached the banks of a river.

There were none there and it was uninhabited place. Just when he wanted to jump into the river, he was stopped by a Fakir. 

The Fakir was wearing black dress. He had long hair and beard, pitiful eyes.

Fakir asked the reason. When the fakir heard the reason, he followed him.

Swamiji was committed to the magnetic power of the Fakir. The Fakir then reached Chetrusani Railway Station with Shantavanji. The Fakir bought a ticket to Shardan, the village of Santavanji and handed over him and disappeared immediately,

None knew who that Fakir was. He has not got such a bad situation in life again.

He had become the disciple of Ramasharma.  He has built an ashram at the banks of River Narmada, started doing Gayatri Navaratri. People from all parts of the country used to come to him. Thirty years passed like this.

That was the year 1979; He was invited for SAIBABA’s Pooja and Gayatri Yagnam to be performed on Datta Jayanti day by Surat’s SAIBABA mandir organisers.

‘I am not SAIBABA’s Bhakta, I never visited either Shirdi nor any other SAIBABA’s mandirs. Why do you select me to perform your puja’ he asked SAIBABA before going to sleep. After asking he went to sleep.

SAIBABA has given him Dream Appearance and said ‘Around thirty years back when you wanted to commit summit, I saved you. Do you forget me?’.

Immediately he sat on Meditation. He has seen SAIBABA in place of Gayatri Mata.

On 3rd December 1979 Shantavanji has served SAI- GAYATRI.
