Mani Shahukar was one of the persons who had become a staunch devotee of Sai after the Maha Samadhi of SAI BABA. She met Shri B.V.Narasimha Swamy ji once. She was informed about SAI BABA by Narasimha Swamy ji. Since then, she become a dedicated devotee of SAI BABA.
She got severe obstacle to her vocal chord in 1950. There was no softness in the voice, her voice rendered. Even after using many medicines, it didn’t give any relief.
At last, she had been to Shirdi. SAI BABA’s idol was not installed at Shirdi at that time. She cried before the photograph of SAI BABA. To whom she could express her dumb trouble except to SAI BABA…!
She went to the residence of her friend, who was staying there in Shirdi. Her mind got little calm/relaxed. She then went to her room and was about to change her dress. There she heard a little sound from her sari. A little packet with two inches fell from the sari. She was surprised.
On opening the packet, 6, 7 homeopath resembling tablets were there. Immediately she went to her friend and asked about this. ‘It is SAI BABA’s Prasadam, Have it’ said her friend. Mani Shahukar took/consumed them as SAI BABA’s Maha Prasadam.
She reached her village. Her voice had become soft. It was nothing but the grace of SAI BABA, it was the firm opinion of Mani Shahukar.
She was not only a singer, but a good speaker and author. She wrote ‘SAI BABA – THE SAINT OF SHIRDI’ book in English in 1952.
The forward or preface for this book was written by Shri B.V.Narasimha Swamy ji on May 12th, 1951. This book would go to new path and could get unity among the Indians who got Independence recently, thus wrote Narasimha Swamy ji.
Mani Shahukar was indeed blessed as she has dedicated this beautiful book not only to SAI BABA, but to the devotees of SAI BABA.
Though Mani Shahukar did not worship SAI BABA during His Life Time, she was luckiest to have the darshan of Upashani Maharaj and Mata Godavari.
