In early days of SAI BABA, there were trinity of devotees in Shirdi who served Him – Mahalsapati, Appa Joglekar and Kashiram Shimpe.

Kashiram presented Green Coloured Kafni and same coloured hat to SAI BABA. When SAI BABA attained the Maha Samadhi, these were also kept in Samadhi along with SAI BABA’s physical body.

SAI BABA used to take one or two paisa from him. Kashiram used to put his wallet with money in front of SAI BABA and asked Him with love to take the money He wanted. As days passed instead of love Kashiram developed with ego. Nothing was hidden from Sai Baba, he understood about Kashiram’s ego and started asking him money more frequently intentionally.

Kashiram had become debt-ridden as the total money he was having had exhausted. Then he could understand his mistake. Since then, his ego was burnt off. His financial condition improved.

It is said that Kashiram was instrumental in getting the first photograph of SAI BABA.

Kashiram was advised by a Great Man called Janaki Das to give sugar to the ants. Kashiram used to carry a bundle of sugar with him. He was giving sugar to ants from that bundle. It was his regular religious vow.Kashiram was a cloth merchant. He used to sell cloths in the surrounding markets of Shirdi.

While he was returning from Sapoor Market once, robbers stopped him. Totally robbed everything.They had an eye on the bundle of sugar that was carried by Kashiram. They asked him to give it to them, but Kashiram refused.They felt there was money and hence they started attacking him for that bundle.

He killed two of the thieves with a knife. Another thief beat him strongly on his head, he felt unconscious. Robbers thought that Kashiram died, so left that place.

On gaining consciousness, people around him wanted to take him to Hospital, but Kashiram requested them to take him to SAI BABA.

The life saver for him was SAI BABA. While he was fighting with robbers there, SAI BABA at Dwarakamai started abuses and hurling abusive language. People present thought that SAI BABA was saving someone. That someone happened to be Kanshiram.

He merged in SAI BABA on the Shuddha Ekadashi day of Chaitra Month (In April month).
