SAI BABA settled in Shirdi. Shirdi Means Sugarcane Stick.
In Jain Religion Nabhinath’s son is Rishab. This Rishab’s mentioning also comes in Bhagavatham.
In the Rishab’s childhood, a person called Sowdharmendra brought Sugarcane Juice in a vessel.
The tiny Rishab wanted to take that Juice. In Sanskrit Ikhu means Sugarcane stick. As such the Rishaba’s family became Ikshwaku clan.
Rishab has 100 sons. First two sons of king were Bharat and Bahubali.
The king distributed kingdom among his two sons and taken the Ashram of Ascetic(sanyasa). Along with him around four thousand people took the Ascetic Ashram.
In Jain Religion he was the first Ascetic. After travelling some time, Rishab has gone to Meditation Path. He started silence. Rishabh started fasting too.
Those who came with him could not tolerate hunger and hence they started eating fruits after cutting from trees.
Rishabh was observing silence to say they should not cut fruits from tress.
He thought upon seeing him they might change so started going for Bhiksha. Till then no Bhiksha. He was the first Beggar.
When he went for Begging, people thought that King has come for Begging and started giving only valuable things to Rishaba.
People also don’t what should be given for Bhiksha. Since no one has given him food material as Bhiksha, he used to do fasting.
One night Shrayan Kumar (Grandson of Rishab’s second son Bahu Bali) got a dream. In that dream he has saw one golden hill turning into black.
When he (Shrayan Kumar) cleaned it with Milk, the hill got its original colour.
He asked many for the meaning of this dream, but none given him the reply. He came to know that his grandfather Rishabh would come there for Bhiksha.
Shrayan Kumar paid his respect, prayed to his great grandfather.
Rishab saw into Shrayan Kumar’s eyes. Shrayan Kumar understood his previous lives. Immediately he got remembered about the dream.
Then juice of Sugarcane came from the farm. Shrayan understood his responsibility. He gave the sugarcane juice to Rishab as Bhiksha.
Rishab felt happy. He took the Sugarcane Juice as Bhiksha.
That day was mentioned as Akshaya Tritiya. There is great significance for Akshaya Tritiya in the Jain Religion.
Rishab did penance, on attaining Brahmajnana and became the first Tirthankara in Jain religion.
In his memory British Government issued a one Ana coin on Aksaya Tritiya upon Rishab relieving from diksha.
Akshaya Tritia generally comes in the month of May. Let us remember Rishabh.
