There may be a doubt that whether SAI BABA encouraged the devotion that possesses attributes (Saguna) or devoid of any attributes (Nirguna).

SAI Literature answer that he encouraged the devotion as per the wishes of the devotees.

But it appears that there was a tilt towards devotion that possesses attributes (Saguna).

Shri Vasantrao Pansheekar was a SAI BABA’s devotee. He wrote a letter to Sai Sharananda that ‘as per instructions from SAI BABA. He wanted to propagate SAI BABA by installing Sai’s Padukas in 13 (Thirteen) different places. Needs the blessings of Sai Sharananda’.

Sai Sharananda replied back encouraging him. After installing the Sai’s Padukas at Vithal Mandirs at Poona, Phanas Wadi, Pansheekar wanted to present the Padukas to Sai Sharanand at Ahmedabad. Since he has taken the asceticism, Sai Sharanand did not like to receive the Padukas. Pansheekar did not agree for this. He started fasting unto death. The love Pansheekar was having towards SAI BABA changed the mind of Sharanand.

Why because taking the Asceticism means to follow non-violence through body, mind and word. Everyone should receive shelter from them.

To kill the Brahmin with Hunger without listening him was not according to the tradition of asceticism. This inspiration was given to Sai Sharanananda by SAI BABA Himself.

Though Pansheekar was happy that Sai Sharananand agreed to take the Padukas, he did not break his fast. He told that after Padukas were taken by Sai Sharanand only he would break the fast.

SAI BABA’s Padukas with His Picture was brought there in a vehicle. The padukas were received by Sai Sharanananda. That day was 13th June 1954. Then only Pansheekar broke his fast.

Worship of Padukas was the cause for indirect wisdom. If one thinks that Gugu Padukas are present with Sahasra Dala in mind leads to indirect wisdom. Today is June 13th. Let us memories SAI BABA’s Padukas.

Padamulu Chalunu Sai, Nee Pada Dhoolule Padivelu. Your Feet were enough SAI BABA, the dust of  Your Feet is equivalent to ten thousands.s.
