When SAI BABA first stepped into Shirdi, that village was just like thrown away tiny village. Similar is the case with Shankara Deva.

It was amidst Bharatati Trees in an island, as per religious, cultural and political changes took place he was the root cause of one for united Assam state formation.

Shankara Deva formed a Vishnava Tradition called Eka Sharana Nama Dharmam.

That means it believes in one God only. If you worship Vishnu, then the entire God’s would be worshipped.

If we pour water at the starting of a bed for a tree, the water would reach all the branches of the tree.

The discourses arranged at temples are called Hari Satsangams, and Naama Discourses.

He arranged solace to the people who were tired physically and mentally in Assam.

In the kingdom of Naranarayana King’s, there was a Muslim tailor called Chandsai.

Whenever finds time, he used to imitate the disciples of Sankar Deva and Sankar Deva Himself and thus ridicule them. Naranarayan king once has given a costly cloth and asked him to stitch the dress to Sankar Dev after taking his measurements.

Chandsai does not like it. But as per the orders of King he was to go to Sankar Deva. On seeing Sankar Deva he was astonished.

He appeared as Lord Vishnu with four hands. He has seen again and again.

He observed that it was nor an Initiation, but actually God himself and become his disciple.

Once King Naranarayana has seen the qualities of God in Sankar Dev and felt astonished. Sankar Deva is a God himself; he developed the belief that He was a God.

This king asked all his queens to go to Lord Shankara and take Initiation.

All the queens presented one robe each to Guru Shankara.  Shankara Dev told a cloth is enough to me, and gave the robes to all the queens.

However, Shankara dev has a cloth. This cannot be understood by kings or queens. That was his power they recognised.

Even King asked him to give him Initiation. Shankaradeva gently refused.

Why because he has ego as he was a king. King’s request was not as request but it appears as the order.

If he was given an Initiation, he would not mix with others as brothers. To give Initiation to such a person was not at all conduced to Eka Sharana Nama Dharmam.

Maha Purusha Shree Manta Sankar Dev has left his body on September 7th, 1569.

Today is his death anniversary. Let us remember Shri Ekeshwara.
