King Kalyana Varma passed away. The arrangements for coronation to the King’s son Shanti Varma were on full swing. Tomorrow would be the coronation.
Shanti Varma has got a dream. In the chair purposed to be his seat, Manjushri was sitting.
‘Son! It was not possible for both of us to sit on the throne’ saying this he vanished.
That means His Guru does not wish he should be the king of the kingdom, he observed, then without informing anybody he left the borders of that kingdom.
He went direct to the Nalanda University. At that time Nalanda University was a Buddist University. Then there were 500 Acharyas.
He joined an Acharya Called Jinadeva and admitted as a sanyasi.
Jinadeva named Shanti Varma as Shanti Deva. Shanti Deva used to do his education and his practice without knowing to others.
Some Jealous People wanted to insult Shanti Deva. But they could not show which rule he has crossed.
In a big Meeting was arranged where Shanti Dev has to speak, then Shanti Deva knowing nothing would leave the Nalanda, they planned and arranged a biggest meeting. Several people were invited by his opponents.
When he has come and sits in the meeting no one knows. In the meeting he sat on the throne with pomp and show and asked them on which do you want me to speak?
Whether on the matter not knowing or knowing he asked the audience. Not known matter please tell us told the audience.
Do you wish to speak a plenty of a little he further asked. I would take a middle path and told you said Shanti Dev.
Then Shanti Dev preached them extempore about “Bodhichaaryavataar”.
When he was delivering a speech, many saw Manjushree was present there in front of Shanti Dev.
The more astonishing thing was that after the completion of the discourse, both Manjushri and Shanti Dev flew in the sky and vanished.
Sadguru Sai used to say that his people would not be fallen and has become bad to the son of Tarkhad.
On July 28 (1988), the government released a commemorative postage stamp of Acharya Shanti Deva, who wrote some of the best texts in Sanskrit.
Bhuddam Shararam Gachchami.
