It was Poona city; it was on 17th August 1925. ‘My Fakir Taj has gone’ lamented Baba Jaan to the visitors around her.

No one could understand the words. In the morning every news paper carried the news of Tajuddin Baba attained Mahasamadhi on 17th August. Baba Jan used to call Tajuddin Baba as ‘My Khalifa’.

Similar thing happened in Shirdi.

1910 On Rushi Panchami. “My life is leaving me, my soul and body are leaving,” said Sai. Kaparde’s son said he was saddened that day. That means that day was the day Gajanan Maharaj of Shegaon has left his body.

The relation between SAI BABA and Gajanan Maharaj was beyond description.

On the Bhadrapad Month Chaviti day, Ganapati was worshipped in every house at Shegaon.

Gajanan Maharaj has called his devotees to him on the next day and said ‘On the day of Chaviti worshipping the earthly Ganapati, next day said Ganapati would be renounced and immersed. This was the day of immersion.

Likewise I am leaving this earthly body now. I have come to this world to save and rehabilitate you all. This body was to be left like a cloth we were wearing’ said Gajanan Maharaj. He was Ganapati to his devotees. His devotees all were crying.

Who will leave their father? SAI BABA, sitting in Shirdi, cried that his life was leaving him ordinary people tolerate the separation.  That matter was known to Gajanan Maharaj.

‘Do not think that I left all of you. Do not bring any difference to your devotion.

Do not forget Me. I would be here only. I would save you’ said Gajanan Maharaj to all those present. Saying ‘Jai Gajanan’ he left his body built by five elements. He left his body only physically. He would never leave his own people and forget

But how he would remember us?. The easiest way was to constantly remember Gajanan Maharaj.

Today is September 8th (Not the Rishi Panchami day) Gajanan Maharaj has attained Mahasamadhi on this day as per English calendar.
