Knowledge of Shastras …Maheneeyulu – 2020 – 14th June.

Abu Hanifa was an expert in the Mohammad Dharma Shastra.

He was a cloth merchant. When he was in his shop, his clerk sold some cloth in the name of Allah. Hanifa did not like the selling of cloth in the name of Allah, he closed the shop on that day.

Another day the quality of the cloth was somewhat lessened. He told clerk to sell it after telling the quality issue. But his clerk sold that cloth without telling the customers.

He came to know about the sale at the night. The clerk was not able to recollect to whom that cloth was sold. That day the amount he got on selling cloths was spent on Charity and Virtuous works.

On seeing His mastery on Virtuousness and his expertise in maintaining the traditional values, The King has forced him to be Khajee.

“I am not fit for that position”, said Hanifa. “You are telling lie”, said the King. Then Hanifa asked King without hesitation “Why you want to appoint a Lier as Khajee”?

Then that king has tied him to the Horse and beaten 11 lashes with Whip. Not for one day but for more than ten days, but Hanifa didn’t surrendered. His eyes filled with tears.

Why?

He wasn’t upset for getting punished. He could see his mother’s cry for beating him and tied to horse. He could not stand his Mother’s suffering.

Even his mother told him that ‘My dear child, leave that knowledge which gave you this trouble’.

Then Hanifa told her that “Mother! I have not learnt the Knowledge for the purpose of money earning. I wanted it for My Allah and for My Salvation only.  Let this world think whatever it might think about me”.

Gaining knowledge is not to earn money or for getting honor, felicitation as a scholar.

It’s for teaching others about God, divinity to attain salvation. This can be learned from Hanifa’s life. At last Hanifa was killed by the King with poison and after arresting him.

Some Ved Pandits from Kumbakonam visited SAI BABA once. They thought SAI BABA was a Muslim, they didn’t offered Namaskaram to SAI BABA, but bowed to Bhudevi and started Veda Pathanam.

Their voice couldn’t come in the middle. SAI BABA then chanted the Vedas. SAI BABA further told that “one should chant Vedas to get the God’s grace not for presents”.

“There is no comparison between earning knowledge and earning money”, said Hanifa. His date particulars were not known.
