Visible in the Tamilnadu Government’s official Ring was the temple tower of Shri Villiputtur Ranganath’s.
Like Tondarappadi Alwaru (Vipranarayana) with the divine service to the lord blessed with a garland was Periyalvaru.
The daughter of Vishnuchitta or Periyalvaru was Andalu or Godadevi.
She has born like Mata Sita like Ayonija. With the growing up by her father Vishnuchitta,
She has taken Lord Shri Krishna as her husband, and sung like a vratam called Tiruppavai. It has come to her like a beautiful boon.
Like Shabari who has taken the taste of fruits of before giving them to Lord Sri Rama, Andalu or Godadevi used to wear the Garlands of Tulasi made by her father into her Hair and neck and saw them in a mirror.
She used to see them every day. Once while taking the garland to Ranganatha by Vishnuchitta, he was astonished to see a human hair in the garland.
He doubted Andal and asked her. She agreed.
‘Mother Goda! You did a greatest mistake. The garlands that I have submitted to Ranganatha you were wearing’.
He slept thinking about this. In a dream vision to Vishnuchitta, Lord Ranganatha has appeared and told him that the Garlands you were presenting daily were wear by your daughter Goda Devi, These will I take them with love.
You bring the Garlands that were worn by your daughter Goda Devi’ the Ranganath ordered him.
From that day onwards Goda Devi was called ‘Sudikkkoduttanaachchiyaru’ (Amukta Malyada).
She has decided to marry Ranganatha. Her father was worried how she would marry that Archa Murthy.
Ranganatha has told him that as the Goda Devi was the trait of Bhudevi and as such he would marry her.
He advised the Temple authorities to bring the daughter of Periyalvar Godadevi with all the rituals and arrange the marriage with her of Him. They did it accordingly.
Godadevi has entered the Garbhalayam, and seen the Ranganath with eyes full, entered the Swamy’s feet and vanished. That day was Bhogi.
Those who sung the Ancient Tamil written Pasurams, would have the darshan of Ranganatha with Hill like four hands, Reddish Eyes, Divine Faceandobtain the grace of Lakshmi Pati always and happy.
She was born to Periyalvaru in the Month of Ashadham, Poorva Phalgunee Star. Let us remember Andaal, reading Tiruppavai, got the blessings of Ranga.
